Setting Up Camp At #43
Nature Galore At Lake Wateree!
We kept track of all the animals that we saw and came up with an impressive list. The Raccoon was elusive (which was fine) but the squirrels were almost a little too friendly. It was spring so we saw our fair share of migratory birds as well. I was instantly transported back in time when I heard the Whip-poor-will calling, a sound I hadn’t heard since we lived in North Carolina when I was a kid.

Most Important – Have some fun at Lake Wateree State Park!
Something Was Left Behind While Visiting The Park?
If you find that you forgot to bring something the ‘Bait and Tackle’ shop at the Lake Wateree state park may just have what you need. They have a nice selection of groceries, clothing, souvenirs, and of bags of ice.
Other Shopping Alternatives:
The Dutchman Creek Marina – This little store sits just outside the park and offers many camping and fishing supplies. If you want a night off from cooking, the restaurant is highly recommended!
Great Falls, South Carolina – This little town is only 17 minutes from the camp ground and offers a variety of stores to fit the bill.
Silke and I took advantage of the laundry and public library in Great Fall during our week long stay. If you want to get away from it all for a while or just spend a relaxing weekend away, we highly recommend what this SC state park has to offer. Lake Wateree in SC is a beautiful place to visit, relax and make new friends.

Yes, it certainly is. Lake Wateree is a relatively small camp ground, so you don’t have as much commotion going on as on some of the larger ones.
Looks like a great place to relax and set up camp for a few days!
