This marked the 5th annual Hub City Brew Fest in Spartanburg, SC.
Originally scheduled for October 5th, the event was rescheduled to November 16th, 2019, due to bad weather. Even with overcast skies, this was a very successful event for downtown Spartanburg.
One thing that all of the breweries and attendees had in common was a passion for great beer and a respect for the craft of making it. Visitors and fellow craft beer enthusiasts were welcomed by 27 local breweries, see the beer list, numerous food vendors and live music.
LOCAL BREWS FROM THE CAROLINAS
We didn’t have to look that hard to find great people making great beer. During our weekend day trips, we try to take one at least once a month, we have sampled numerous local breweries. From the Green Man Brewery in Asheville, NC, to the Yew-Haw Brewing Co in Greenville, SC, to name just a few.
South Carolina was represented at the Hub City Brew Fest from Low Country area cities like Charleston to the Mountains.

Longtime local brewery favorites like RJ Rockers and Thomas Creek and recent Carolina transplants like Bold Rock and Sierra Nevada have attended. They even had a few startup breweries who are fresh out of the gate.
We recently visited Plankowner Brewing Co. in Boiling Springs and River Rat Brewery located in an industrial park in Columbia, and were excited to see both of them represented at our local brew fest.
Including food vendors like boiled peanuts, which is a southern tradition, you were sure to find something special at the annual Hub City Brew Fest.

Plus… It Was For A Good Cause
In 2017, The Coalition for Active Youth and Partners for Active Living broke ground for the Bike Yard, a new bike park in the city of Spartanburg.

The location, between Forest Avenue and Country Club Road on the Mary Black Trail, provides shaded areas and plenty of land to create trails for the true mountain biking feel. Once again, the proceeds from the Hub City Brew Fest will go towards the construction of this public bike park.
Sponsorship dollars from the Hub City Brew Fest will help add elements to The Bike Yard park.
2022 Bike Yard Update:
The Bike Yard park has been completed by building the pump track, a dirt jump course, a perimeter mountain bike trail and a “sticks” park. It turned out amazing! We sit young people using the bike yard every time we take our own bikes on the Mary Black Trail.
