A Tranquil Day At The Park
Tranquil photos of a late fall day a park in South Carolina.
We are very lucky to be living only 25 minutes by car from one of the many beautiful South Carolina Parks – The Givhans Ferry State Park. A natural retreat in the Lowcountry woods, Givhans Ferry State Park sits at the end of the Edisto River. The Edisto is the longest free-flowing, black water river in North America. It is a kayaking paradise for many locals and visitors during the summer months. During our tranquil day at the park we had it almost all to ourselves.
Nick and I spent about an hour walking the nature trail of the well maintained park. It was raining on and off during this part of our stay, but the canopy of trees kept us relatively dry.
We immensely enjoyed the peace and quiet tranquility of a cloudy Sunday afternoon watching the river lazily float by. The fog was quietly gliding across the water, giving the park a bit of a spooky feeling. Especially since we were the only visitors at the time.
Do you live in the Charleston/Summerville area or plan a trip to visit the Low Country?
You should add this beautiful state park to your agenda. A few hours of R&R on this tranquil shoreline will be enough to restore and rejuvenate you. It sure did the trick for us!
A quiet feeling of calmness can find visitors often leaving relaxed and smiling once again.
The Givhans Ferry State Park near Ridgeville in South Carolina offers rustic cabins that sleep up to six people. The Riverfront Hall is available to rent for large parties and a shaded campground, nature trail and picnic shelters are also available at the park. Horseback riding is allowed on the Old Loop Trail at Givhans Ferry State Park from November 1 through February 28.
