Wasp Spray For Home Protection

Wasp & Hornet Spray is Home Protection that works and only costs you a couple of bucks.

For many years I was a single mom and feared strangers walking into the house while I slept. I had a fish fillet knife on my night stand and a kids baseball bat in the corner, behind the bedroom door. Thankfully I never had to use either, it probably wouldn’t have done me any good.

I received this email about wasp spray from a good friend of mine the other day. Usually I don’t share this kind of information but I’m making an exception with this one:

A receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate.

While with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you.

The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn’t attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life. Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School. For decades he’s suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed. Glinka says, “This is better than anything I can teach them.”

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says “spray the culprit in the eyes”. It’s a tip he’s given to students for decades.

It’s also one he wants everyone to hear. If you’re looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray. “That’s going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out.” Maybe even save a life.

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will! Good to know, huh? And, it will also kill a wasp.!!!!

I thought this email about wasp and hornet spray for self defense and home invasion protection was interesting and might be of use to you.

After I showed this email to Nick we decided spending a few dollars on a can of wasp spray could definitely make a difference if someone ever tried to unpleasantly surprise us in the middle of the night. Although we live in a fairly quiet town in the Midwest we still have our fair share of robberies, home invasions, and unfortunately, murders.

  • Heck, a bottle of this stuff is like 3 – 4 bucks, is all. I can’t believe I never heard of that before. I’m picking one up for my girlfriend, she lives out in the sticks and I always worry about her.
I remember the time me and my cousin was playn around once and he got soda in my eye. Dang if that didn’t hurt like a jeebers! I cant imagine what wasp spray would feel like. Dont tell my cousin on account of he might want to try it on me. lol.
    Thanks guys.

    • Wow Dale. This has to be one of the funniest comments we’ve ever received. Picking up a can for your girlfriend will show that you care. Way to go.
P.S. Even if we knew your cousin you don’t have to worry. Your secrets safe with us. = ; )

  • This is a myth. It doesn’t work against humans. Stick with pepper spray which is what the professionals use. Even the antidote section of the above article is not true. Grab a wasp spray canister and read the label top to bottom. There is no mention of an antidote. Don’t believe me, contact a wasp spray manufacturer for their opinion on the issue and request a material safety data sheet. I did contact six companies and not one recommended their products for self defense. They all urged me not to use wasp spray for for self defense!

    • David,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If the intent is to ward off an intruder and you inadvertantly cripple this person for life because you chose to use wasp spray instead of pepper spray, who would be the more negligible party? Thankfully we have never been in a situation where we had to use either. Your expertise in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Note: David Nance is a nationally acclaimed safety expert and has been featured on The History Channel, Spike TV, and various other Self Defense media programming.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts about wasp spray home protection. Regards

  • This myth has been debunked multiple times and plenty of YouTube videos showing
the ineffectiveness…do not try to use wasp spray for self defense!!!
