Photo tour while house sitting in North Carolina.
This is article #3 of our recent house sitting gig in North Carolina. We took a day trip back into South Carolina and explored many of the local hiking trails. House sitting is a wonderful way to explore a part of the country, or even the state you live in, that you wouldn’t usually get to visit otherwise.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay, rent free and with lots of time to take day trips, into the North Carolina mountains. Scroll down to find links to Parts 1 & 2 of this mini photo tour series.
We started our last house sitting day in North Carolina by going to the Victoria Valley Vineyard in South Carolina. We brought our home owner a bottle of wine. It’s always a good idea to bring a small gift when house sitting. We purchased our gift at a wine store in Summerville, SC, before taking on this assignment.
This vineyard, one of just a handful in South Carolina, was only an
hours drive from our house sitting job in North Carolina.
The Victoria Valley Vineyards are located just outside a little town called Cleveland, SC. As usual we pulled up from the wrong side and didn’t see any signs until we pulled through the gates of this vineyard.
The winery has been styled after a French “chateau”, complete with a tasting room, gift shop and a small deli. You can see a list of their current wines on their website.
We are not exactly wine connoisseurs, but we could certainly see why this forty-seven acre site was chosen. It’s a beautiful location with the right elevation to grow and produce their Vinitera Wines.
We enjoyed the wine tasting and ended up purchasing a few more bottles of their wine for future house sitting home owner gifts. If you’re in the neighborhood you should stop in for lunch and have a wine tasting yourself.
Next we were off to enjoy the gorgeous mountain
scenery at the Table Rock State Park.
Table Rock State Park is a 3,083-acre park at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northern Pickens County, South Carolina. The park includes Pinnacle Mountain, the tallest mountain within the state. (Source – Wikipedia)
Reservations to this state park are recommended, but walk in visitors are always welcome. There is a small entrance fee to get into the park.
It had rained pretty hard the day before, so the little stream running through these woods had a strong current and overflowed the hiking trail in a few spots. We were lucky once again to have a day full of sunshine and perfect hiking weather while house sitting in North Carolina.
North Carolina Area Travel and Hiking Tips
There is so much to see and do in the Asheville NC area that even a week wasn’t nearly enough time to explore this beautiful area.
There are a ton of hiking trails in the area, we sampled just a very few of them. It seems that hiking is a very popular activity in North Carolina and a variety of trails are available suitable for novices and seasoned hikers. We only went on easy to moderate hiking trails and left the strenuous trails for some other time.

Hi Kathleen,
Sorry I can’t help you, we don’t even have a twitter account for JagerFoods. If some one wanted to share our content to their twitter account they can use the share widget on the left of the page.
I’m sure there are a few plug-in options for you to choose from within your own blogging platform though.
We are glad you’re enjoying reading our articles. :)

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that
automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you
would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
