Excellent Quality Knives Shouldn’t Be Hard to Find
Finding a good knife set can be harder than you think.
It was just last year that I got Silke a knife set for Christmas. Her response was more than what I had hoped for. She was ecstatic at the mere thought that I had even considered this as a present at all. It was no secret to me that she had attended a culinary school while still living in Germany. She had often talked about the training involved and her internship at an upscale restaurant.
If I was going to get Silke a knife set I knew it had have excellent quality and durability.
Knives were not my forte. So to pull this off I was going to have to do some homework. This involved strolling through the department stores and casually mentioning a knife set that I thought would be nice to have. Silke is anything but blunt. If it even was remotely inadequate, she would let me know. The Germans might have a higher standard when it comes to cutlery but I was not going to be deterred. There had to be a place that carried quality knives at affordable prices.
My journey led me here and there and I eventually found something that I felt was going to live up to her expectations. Watching her unwrap her gift that year was filled with trepidation. Somehow, luckily, I had pulled it off. She was more than elated. It wasn’t until recently that I confided in her how hard it was for me to find those knives that she now so much enjoys. It was through this conversation that the genesis of ‘Knife and Cutlery’ was conceived.
Imagine finding a store that not only sold you the quality of knives that you’re looking for but actually had a variety of selections from different name brands to choose from. Sure I could go on line to a larger store that carries everything from sun umbrellas to pizza cutters, but what if I wanted to visit a site that was exclusive to just cutlery? Would this be too much to ask?
Knife and Cutlery or ‘K & C’ as the logo depicts, would have an exclusive line of knife brands that would be easy and simple to find. The web site itself would be clean and straight forward. Items would have prices that are clearly marked and no hidden fees would find you at the checkout. Wouldn’t it be nice to find a website like this for every item that you purchased?
We have been working on KnifeandCutlery.com for awhile now and have finally launched the website and completed all of the product pages.
We built the whole website ‘from scratch’ making it a very easy to use and creating an engaging knife shopping experience. It will be a new endeavor for both Silke and I and we’re very excited to see our new eBusiness to completion.
UPDATE – We gave up on the knife and cutlery selling website after a year. After spending a lot of time and effort building the site and creating super easy to use selling pages we were disappointed by the amount of traffic and interaction we received. A lot of very similar websites all of a sudden popped up out of nowhere. We did do extensive research beforehand, oh well, what do you do? Nothing ventures, nothing gained. We definitely gained experience.
