Easy Rice Pudding Recipe
Easy stove top rice pudding recipe you will love to make.
Usually when I make stir-fry or any other dish with white rice as a side, I end up with too much left over rice. This easy home made Rice Pudding Recipe is fairly quick to make and super delicious.
The left over cooked rice is combined with milk, sugar, egg, optional golden raisins, and flavored with butter and vanilla. Yummy! “Rice pudding is a dish made from rice mixed with water or milk and sometimes other ingredients such as cinnamon and raisins. Recipe for Stove Top Rice Pudding:
Prep time: 25 min. – Total time to the table: 45 min.
- 3/4 cup uncooked or 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
- 2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup golden raisins (optional)
- 1 Tbs. butter
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Add uncooked rice to medium saucepan filled with 1 1/2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Stir and reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 mins.
In medium saucepan, combine cooked rice, 1 1/2 cups of the milk, sugar and salt.
Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, stir occasionally, for 14 – 20 mins.
Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk, beaten egg and raisins.
Cook 2 more mins., stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Pour Rice Pudding in serving dish or individual bowls. Serve rice pudding warm and enjoy!

Rice Pudding Add-Ins:
Besides adding golden raisins, try it by soaking regular raisins in a little brandy or whiskey beforehand. You could also add craisin, toasted coconut, blueberries or even chocolate chips to your rice pudding. I also like to top my rice pudding with a dollop of freshly whipped cream.
I don’t make rice pudding very often, but when I do I usually ask myself “Why don’t I make this more often?”. This easy rice pudding is that creamy and perfect!
