Teen Mania’s Honor Academy In Garden Valley, Texas

Deciding a career path to take as a teenager or young adult can seem like a daunting task.

It isn’t until you’ve navigated this life ritual that you have the luxury to look back and know for certain about the choices that you’ve made. The Teen Mania’s Honor Academy offers a one year internship with a Christian based theme that develops leadership skills through classroom instruction, and practical hands-on experience.

From the Honor Academy’s website:

“The Honor Academy is not an accredited institution. However, through a partnership with Regent University, Patten University and Oral Roberts University, graduates of the internship are able to receive up to 21 credit hours toward their college degree when attending these partnering universities.”

If you know of a student that might be interested in attending this academy, they would be able to contact them through their web-site or by calling their toll free number at 800.863.6306.

Our daughter, Tanya, happened upon Teen Mania’s Honor Academy at a LifeLight festival in South Dakota.

She attended the event and signed up for more information regarding this program. In order to participate in the Honor Academy she must commit to raise financial support. Tanya is twenty years old and hasn’t lived with us for over a year now.

Her tuition will cover housing, meals, and other program-related expenses. All contributions toward her internship are tax-deductible and non-refundable. Tanya has been looking for not only direction in her life, but a sense of calling as well. While working as a CNA in a nursing home this past year she has been able to gain hands on experience in this line of work and whether it will fulfill her the way a career should.

Tanya will visit the Honor Academy in Texas soon

Tanya enjoys ‘helping’ people, she was always willing to lend a hand even as a small girl, but she doesn’t know that it will be in this capacity. Looking more toward counseling or teaching might be something that she is more suited to do.

Through the opportunities that are provided at the Honor Academy she will be able to continue to find her strengths and learn valuable life and leadership skills along the way.

Every year, the interns at Teen Mania’s Honor Academy get to not only experience transformation and growth in their own lives, but they play a significant role in the transformation that takes place in the lives of thousands in North America and all over the globe. “The Honor Academy costs average approximately $700 a month. This support is tax-deductible and includes: housing, meals, books, and all other program related expenses. Compared to a year of college, the Honor Academy is very inexpensive and really gives young people skills to make the most of their college and work experiences.”

Tanya has put together flyers that she is distributing to local businesses to receive donations towards her internship. She currently has saved over a $1,000 from working at the nursing home towards her tuition and is trying to save more by January 3rd, 2014 when the program starts.

If you would like to help a young adult that is looking for spiritual guidance, as well as life building skills, please consider donating towards this cause that is very dear to our hearts.

Thank you so much for your support. May it be by keeping Tanya in your prayers or with a monetary donation.

We appreciate each and every one of you!

  • My son attended this academy and I can’t begin to tell you the transformation it made. He left with nothing but an attitude and a chip on his shoulder. The young man the came home after he completed his internship was kind, courteous and even thanked his mother after every meal she made!
He matured and we beamed at the gentleman that he had become.

I put $5.00 in for your daughter.

    Many blessings,
    Greg

  • I will keep Tanya in my prayers. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity! I hope she is able to raise the funds she will need. I am sorry I am unable to contribute financially but as I said I will definitely keep her in prayer.

    • Dear Angie,
Thank you so much for keeping Tanya in your prayers. It’s hard to believe she will hopefully start her internship in four days.
      Love,

  • Update: Nick and I visited Tanya in Garden Valley, Texas this past weekend. It was their kick off for summer festival with a Celebration Life Transforming Event. We had a lot of fun watching the kids in various competitions.

We had a wonderful visit! It was amazing to see how much Tanya has grown in these past six months. She volunteers for 40+ hours/week in the Global Expeditions call center talking to teenagers, young adults and parents, and is fund raising for her own upcoming mission trip to Baja, Mexico.
