Switchblade – A Harry Bosch Story By Michael Connelly

Introducing Micheal Connelly’s short story titled Switchblade.

An offer from the Michael Connelly website to give early bird buyers of his new novel a teaser was just too good to pass up.

Scroll down to see us pose with the author during a meet & greet in Chicago. For those of you who pre-ordered Michael Connelly’s new novel ‘The Gods Of Guilt’ the author presented a short story to them titled ‘Switchblade’.

The Gods Of Guilt by Michael Connelly

Switchblade is a 28 page short story that gives some lead way to his character Harry Bosch, who makes a small appearance in his newest Mickey Haller novel. It’s a quick read that sets up the scene for the two characters to meet. Character cross overs are consistent with many of Michael Connelly’s novels. This story telling dynamic offers the reader a glimpse of other main characters that he writes about, and adds a level of continuity to all the books that he’s written.

This short story takes place over a period of time. A chance job offers someone the opportunity to sway events towards an ulterior motive. Why this particular unsolved case lands on Harry Bosch’s desk is made clear by the end of the story. The investigation comes into focus when DNA from a switchblade knife is found, which leads into the title.

It was a quick read and left me anxiously awaiting his newest novel in December.

The Gods of Guilt book is written around his other famous character, Lawyer Mickey Haller. You probably remember this character when he made his way to the big screen in ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’.

Michael Connelly Newest Book

Michael Connelly books have entertained readers for over 20 years now and it didn’t take long before I was hooked myself. It was during some down time a couple of years ago that I was able to fill the void by reading many of his books. Silke and I had a chance to meet the author in Chicago during his book tour for ‘The Scarecrow’ awhile back.

In my house, the newest Michael Connelly novel is always within reach and the older ones are on our bookshelf.

  • The first Michael Connelly book I read was The Concrete Blond in 1994. Since then I have purchased every Michael Connelly hardback as a 1st edition, including the first two books. I have a complete collection. I enjoy Michael’s books as much as Raymond Chandler’s. However, the various short stories that have been published as ebooks I have never read or been able to purchase in printed form. Please, please consider publishing them in print!

    • David,

Thanks for stopping by. I’m a big Michael Connelly fan myself and have all of his 1st editions as well. It would be cool if they collected all of his e-book short stories and published them. Who knows, maybe he’ll see this suggestion and take it up with his publisher! ;)
