Longboat Key lies just outside Sarasota, Florida and has the spectacular Gulf of Mexico as a back drop. Silke and I have made our way here to visit the ‘Turtle Crawl Inn Resort’. Minnesota hasn’t had any snow yet but the thought of heading down to Florida for a week was an offer too good to pass.
Here is an excerpt from the Inn:
From the sounds of waves lapping against the shore, to the sweet smell of the Gulf of Mexico, Turtle Crawl Inn Resort is a beach lover‘s paradise. With a wide variety of unit styles and floor plans to choose from, no longer does direct Gulf front mean sacrificing your entire vacation budget. Choose from one of our many room styles including accommodations at The Towers, The Gardens and The Villas.
Known for tasteful luxury, Longboat Key is a 12-mile stretch of shoreline that is rich in gorgeous beaches, wildlife, upscale amenities and championship golf. Ignored by spring breakers and devoid of garish attractions, this island is one of the quietest on the Gulf Coast – and all the more beloved for it.
For the week that we’ll be here we will be taking photographs of all the individual units. All work and no play? No way. Sarasota’s Siesta Key has captured the title of #1 beach in America. Sarasota is also home to the Ringling Museum of Art, the Ringling Circus Museum, and the Myakka River State Park with miles of hiking trails throughout. A day at the beach works just as well.

We had a wonderful time at the Turtle Crawl Inn Resort. It was very relaxing and beautiful.
