We are lucky to live in a town with a very diverse activity schedule in the summer. It includes among others: weekly concerts on the court house front lawn, the always popular Art in the Park weekend, weekly car races and the All-American favorite, our very own minor league baseball team.
The Alexandria Beetles!
Picture this: A warm summer evening, a crowd of people ranging from infants to the elderly waiting for the home team to step on the field, the smell of hot dogs, pop corn and beer lingering in the air. It’s the anticipation of another great evening of baseball in Central Minnesota!
Minor league baseball is exactly what it should be. Baseball, pure and simple! There are no contract disputes, player strikes and over paid prima donna’s. The players and their mascot, Ringo, are more than happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures with the kids. Besides, who doesn’t like to root for their home team. Does it get any better than this?
We got to watch the Beetles make it into to the Play offs this season. Way to go!
Who is your home town favorite and what do you like best about minor league baseball? Please share!
